The Tacoma is a US manufactured pickup truck from the Japanese manufacturer Toyota. This model was as a replacement for the earlier Hilux and places much more emphasis on comfort, handling, ride quality and safety than its more utilitarian predecessor. The Tacoma was aimed squarely at the growing market for refined compact and mid-sized pickup trucks to be used as everyday drivers.
Introduced in 1995, the first generation Tacoma was classed as a compact pickup. The second generation, of which this is a 2013 example, was upgraded in 2004 to a mid-sized vehicle and available in eighteen combinations of engines, transmissions, cabs and bed lengths. The two engines available are the 2.7 liter and 4.0 liter, with outputs of 159 and 236 hp respectively.
Renowned for its standard safety features, this 2013 Tacoma boasts anti-lock brakes, electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist. Further refinements include stability and traction control, as well as active head restraints and multiple airbags.
