The GS is a dual-sport motorcycle of 1,170 cc displacement manufactured in Berlin, Germany by BMW Motorrad. It features a two-cylinder boxer engine with four valves per cylinder. Since 2012, the R 1200 GS series has become BMW’s top-selling motorcycle of all time.
From 2008 onwards, this model has also benefitted from state-of-the-art technology such as ABS, Electronic Suspension Adjustment and Automatic Stability Control, as well as a 5% increase in power to 105 hp.
Famous for its ruggedness and versatility both on and off the road, this model with shaft-driven final transmission and chain-driven camshaft is known to be virtually bulletproof in the mechanical department, making it particularly well suited to long-range touring over variable terrain.
The R 1200 GS has rightly been termed “the most successful motorcycle in the last two-and-a-half decades” and been credited for singlehandedly creating the adventure-touring category within motorcycling.
This motorcycle is housed as part of a Collection in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
