The 1098 is a six-speed sports motorcycle produced from 2007 to 2009 by Ducati of Bologna in Italy and designed by Giandrea Fabbro. The R version presented here, featuring the larger displacement 1198 cc engine. Rated at 180 hp, this model has the highest torque-to-weight ratio of all production sport bikes ever made. This Ducati 1098R is located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates as part of a large collection.
A winner of many Bike of the Year awards since its introduction, the lightweight 1098 R is perhaps most famous for its success on the racetrack. Tipping the scales at only 165 kg, this fuel-injected twin-cylinder superbike can accelerate from standstill to 60 mph in just over three seconds and has a top speed of 173 mph.
Troy Bayliss from Australia was the winner of the 2008 Superbike World Championship riding this model and Carlos Checa repeated the feat in 2011 to give Ducati its seventeenth manufacturer’s title in this particular event.
