The R1200C is a lower-profiled cruising motorcycle produced by BMW between 1997 and 2004. Designed for comfort rather than speed, this cruiser comes in the laid-back, low-slung look similar to the early Harley Davidsons and Indians. Like other BMW motorcycles, this one is shaft-driven and powered by the horizontally-opposed boxer-style unit of 1170 cc.

Built in a sparse style exposing much of its structural skeleton, not everyone took to the bare nature of its suspension components.  On the road, however, the R1200C is well controlled and highly compliant, the suspension offering a better ride than most cruisers. It is also noted for responsive, predictable handling and low-effort steering, as well as better cornering clearance compared to its competitors. Only 7,618 examples of this model were built in 1998.

Some of the typical BMW refinements added to this model include electronic fuel injection and engine management, anti-dive suspension, shaft drive, and anti-lock disc brakes.
