The Porsche 928 is a luxury Grand Tourer originally intended to replace the famous 911 sports car. Combining power, stability and sporty handling with the comfort and equipment normally associated with a saloon car, the 928 was aimed at a much wider audience than its cult stablemate.
This model also departs from Porsche’s previous configurations by having a front-mounted and water-cooled engine powering the rear wheels, as well as being their first mass-produced V8 model. Clearly another winning design by the company, the 928 was named European Car of the Year in 1978.
This later GTS version featured here is the last in a long list of 928 variants and also the most refined and expensive of them all. The main additions to this model are larger front brakes and a 5.4 liter engine producing 350 hp. The top speed of the GTS is rated at a blistering 168 mph.
