The 911 was Porsche’s flagship model through the 1960’s and 70’s. A two-door high performance sports car, it features the signature rear-engine and independent rear suspension. All models had air-cooled engines, of six-cylinder Boxer design, before the year 1998. This Porsche is located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates as part of a car collection.
Besides being Porsche’s best-selling production model in that era, the 911, in its various configurations, has also been a highly successful competition car with numerous titles to its name.
This 911S model from 1973, the top of the line version at the time, features the added upgrades of a bigger engine, now increased to 2341 cc and producing 190 hp, and a Bosch fuel injection system. A stronger transmission was also added to handle the extra engine power.
Weighing only 1050 kg, the 911S is generally regarded the best mainstream classic versions of the 911. Only 925 examples of this true classic were built in 1973.
