The Buick Riviera line was produced in the United States between 1963 to 1999, in this time over one million vehicles were manufactured.
The boat tail deck lid of the second generation was redesigned for the 1973 model, it was made slightly shorter. Although the boat tail was supervised by Bill Mitchell, it was mainly the work of Jerry Hirschberg. The 1973 Riviera was the last year to see the boat tail.
