The 3.0 CSi is a two-door coupé built for BMW by Karmann between 1972 and 1975, during which only around 8,200 examples were actually built. It was developed directly from the 2000 CS coupé, which was further enlarged to accommodate a straight-six engine.
The 3.0 CSi was very successful in racing, especially in the European Touring Car Championship and the Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft. This firmly established BMW’s status at the time as a sporty driver’s car. The beautiful 3.0 CSi classic was widely considered the 70’s flagship coupé with well proportioned, elegant and unique styling.
This particular example from 1972 is the successor model to the 3.0 CS, with an upgrade to a Bosch fuel injection system and corresponding power increase to 200 hp. Performance is very respectable for a car of this vintage, with a top speed of 137 mph and 0-60 mph in 7.4 seconds.
