The GTV is a sporty two-door coupe produced from 1971 to 1976 by Alfa Romeo and designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro for Bertone. This 2000 version boasts the most powerful engine in the series, the light-alloy twin-cam 1962 cc, fed by twin carburettors or fuel injected on North American models. Other notable features include a five-speed manual transmission and disc brakes all round.
Besides being a competent performer in its day, with the 130 hp engine producing a top speed of around 110 mph, the classic Alfas of this era are perhaps most famous for their timeless design. Executed by a young Giorgetto Giugiaro at Bertone, this series of Alfas would be the inspiration for many manufacturers in the years to follow. In particular, the shape and size of the front and rear windshields and their influence on the overall body shape was later adopted by numerous car makers.
This 1972 Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV is housed in Dubai, United Arab Emirates as part of a classic car collection.
