The 600 model is a full-size and highly luxurious limousine produced by Mercedes Benz between 1963 and 1981. Available in short or long wheelbase layout, the former were aimed at owner drivers and the latter at chauffeur-driven ones. The longer wheelbase version of this cost-no-object vehicle often includes a central divide with powered window.
The main innovations of this series include a new 6.3 liter V8 engine and a hydraulic pressure system to power the seats, windows, boot lid, sunroof and automatically closing doors. A further added refinement is the adjustable air suspension, which provides for the most luxurious of ride quality.
Owned by royalty, movie stars and several dictators of the era, only 2,677 examples of the Mercedes 600 series were ever built. Of the SWB model featured here, production figures amount to just 2,190 examples.
