he 442 model is a muscle car manufactured by the Oldsmobile division of General Motors between 1964 and 1980. Originally available only as an option package available for two existing models, it became a standalone model in its own right from 1968 to 1971. The model name was also revived later, but only the sport coupes from this short period are considered the true collector items. Pre-1968 examples also remain highly desirable.As the model name suggests, its original configuration was four-barrel carburettor, four-speed manual transmission and twin-exhaust. Although configuration altered over the years, the 442 designation was still maintained. Powered by 400 cubic inch V8, this particular example produces 350 hp for a 0 to 60 mph time of 7 seconds and a top speed of 115 mph.
Upgraded components to the classic 442 series include suspension, clutch, shocks, transmission, brakes, driveshaft and wheels. Of the 1969 example featured here, only 297 units were built, which includes 25 sport coupes and convertibles each. The remainder were in the hardtop coupe style.
