The R69S is a motorcycle powered by a four-stroke 594 cc boxer twin engine, which was manufactured by BMW in Munich, Germany. Between 1960 and 1969, a total of 11,317 of these shaft-driven, opposed-twin units were built.  This R69S is located in the United Arab Emirates, as part of a vintage collection.

This model was conceived as a relatively high-powered, high-compression sport bike at the time and considered a particularly advanced and prestigious model with an output rated at 42 hp and top speed of 109 mph.

In 1962, in its third year of production, the R69S was heralded in a top motorcycling magazine as “the smoothest, best finished, quietest and cleanest motorcycle it has ever been our pleasure to ride. The R69S is fast enough to handle any encounter and it has attributes that are, in touring, infinitely more valuable than mere speed.”

Unchallenged in its day for quality and reliability, the top-of-the-line R69S also features the famous Earles-type front fork, providing this classic with a particularly smooth ride.
