The Mark 2 is a mid-sized sporty saloon produced from 1959 to 1967 by Jaguar in Coventry. A successor to the Mark 1, this vintage model took the compact and sporty Jaguar to new heights, with its enhanced styling and substantially improved interior featuring leather and walnut veneer.
Entry level examples had the 2.4 liter engines, while 3.4 and 3.8 liter versions, all straight-sixes, were also optional. At their time of introduction, the Mark 2 series were considered the finest ‘gentleman’s sports saloon’ of the day, combining a refined cabin, handsome styling and healthy performance.
This series also enjoyed great success on the racetrack, being a multiple winner in the Touring Car class. It was this classic model that put Jaguar firmly centre stage in the sporting saloon category and lay the foundations for the introduction of future models such as the legendary E-Type.
