The DeSoto (also spelled De Soto at times) was an American automobile make, created by the now-closed DeSoto Division of the Chrysler Corporation from 1928 to 1961. A very unique aspect of the brand was the DeSoto logo. The logo featured a stylized image of the Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto. This lovely 1955 DeSoto Sport is located in Dubai, the UAE as part of a nice vintage car collection.
1955 was the purest example of Virgil Exner’s “Forward Look” design across the Chrysler line. Many consider the DeSoto the best of all with purity of line and two tone color scheme. This Sportsman may be the best in the country and led by the racier Adventurer series the best examples are rising in investment value.
This car has the original 291 hemi engine with Powerflite automatic transmission.
Back when the 1955 DeSoto launched many described riding in the automobile was quite an experience. The engine was extremely quiet and the overall feel very sleek and smooth. The interior gave a perception there were miles between the seats. Everywhere, there was quality whether it was the Fireflite Sportsman’s leather upholstery or the Firedome’s glossy dashboard. A ’55 DeSoto was sure to please even the toughest critic.
