Introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1975, the XJS, in the Grand Tourer class, was Jaguar’s successor model to the revered E-Type. Although there is no direct comparison between the two, the XJS does remain a two-door and inherits an upgraded version of its predecessor’s engine. The main change with this model was to add modern luxury elements to a fast and powerful sports car design, such as climate control and power windows and locks, as well as electronic fuel injection to the well-established engine. This car is housed in a car collection  in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Originally produced as a hardtop and then a cabriolet, the 1989 model saw the introduction of the full convertible with powered hood. Also added at this time were anti-lock brakes and a four-speed automatic transmission. Engine choice had by then extended to either the HE version of the original 5.3 liter V12 or a straight six unit of four liter capacity. The model featured here is the third generation or ‘facelift’ version.
